New look of Vientiane Morning market shopping mall in Laos !

In less than 2 years from now, Vientiane’s Talat Sao (or Morning Market), Laos, will be drastically different from what it is today. Talat Sao is now redeveloped into a modern shopping centre, housing more than 1,600 shops selling all kinds of merchandise. Singapore ’s Excalibur Group Pte Ltd, inked a US$27 million project to redevelop Talat Sao in three phases. In Phase I, temporary shop space would be set up in front of the Post Office while the construction of a three-storey building takes place.




In Phase II, merchants would move their wares to the temporary three-storey building, while construction of another four-storey (including basement) building commences. In the final phase, the temporary block would be demolished and the new face of Talat Sao unveiled to the public. Excalibur expects the redevelopment project to be completed by 2009.
