Construction of Vientiane city pillar shrine to start soon
Stone foundation laying of new City Pillar Shrine scheduled on February 24
(KPL) The stone foundation laying ceremony for the construction of the new City Pillar Shrine of Vientiane Capital at Phiavath, Sisattanark district, is scheduled on February 24, according to the Ministry of Information and Culture.
The ministry made the announcement at a meeting held on Wednesday at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane. Chaired by Mr. Mounkeo Araboune, Minister of Information and Culture, the meeting was attended by representatives of relevant authorities.
Deputy Director of the Heritage Department, Ministry of Information and Culture, Mr. Viengkeo Souksavathdy, said that the construction of the shrine cost around 9 billion kip. 
He said that the construction was expected to be over at the end of this year in coincidence with the celebration of the 450th anniversary of Vientiane proclamation as the national capital.
The new four-sided City Pillar Shrine is designed to have four facades, each turning to a different direction. The shrine will be 25 X 25 m wide and 30 m high.
Ancient inscription stones found recently will be displayed at the shrine.

I hope is not gonna be painted in white or gold like the rest of houses and buildings in Laos.

I think they should make all Lao architect roof looks curved. It looks nice then just a straight triangle roof. It would rather look like any house instead of a shrine.
