International reps assured none of Xayaboury dam construction is undertaken
(KPL) Over 50 representatives of international organizations, diplomatic officials, and media on Tuesday visited the Xayaboury Hydro Power Plant project site in Xayaboury province of which the construction has not been allowed.
the Xayaboury dam has become a hot issue of environmentalists when a road construction project is carried out near the project site and some environmentalists mistake it for the beginning of the dam.
"Such road construction is only for facilitating the communication of local people," said Deputy Minister of the Energy and Mines, Mr. Viraphonh Viravong. "None of construction activities are conducted on the Mekong River".
The Xayaboury dam has been redesigned as a modern hydropower plant to ensure its minimizing of negative environmental impact, according to Senior Project Manager of Poyry Energy Limited, Mr. Rene Schmidiger, consultant for the Xayaboury Dam project.
The redesign of the dam came after a number of environmentalists from Cambodia and Vietnam expressed concerns over the negative impact the dam may pose on the ecosystem, especially fish passing and sediment down flow.
The redesign of the dam is to ensure fish can pass up and down along the Mekong river as the dam will be equipped with a number of fish passing facilities such as fish ladder and fish lift.
According to the redesign, the dam will be also equipped with sediment flushing system which it can be supply of feed for aquatic animals and fertilizer for people who live in Mekong River downstream to cultivate rice and other crops to improve living condition.

Why don`t protesters and Dumb NGOs go to China and protested because China built many Dams that really blocked the main river flow. you people (Lao, Vietnam, Cambodian, Thailand, should`ve known by now that why in the raining season was always flooded, because the Chinese released the reserved water
