Thai 'ladyboy' flight attendants take flight for Laos

Small private airline PC Air says it will begin operating charter flights this month with Bangkok-Vientiane service and will start serving China next month.

Originally the charter service was to take off around the middle of this year or in the third quarter, but factors such as the flood disaster forced a delay.

The airline has also changed its plans on which destinations it will serve initially. Japan and South Korea had been proposed, but now it will start with Laos and China.

Owned by Peter Chang and Chatwiwat Klumkomol, the company was formed last year. It will begin with charter flights to keep operating costs and other expenses manageable and launch scheduled flights later on.

Chatwiwat, president of the airline, said it would begin flying from Bangkok to Shenyang and Tianjin in China in January. Last Friday the airline held its first trial flight between Bangkok and Hat Yai

PC Air is the first airline in Thailand to hire all genders. PC Air’s four transsexual flight attendants are believed to be the world’s first transgender flight attendants.
